Madurai: Actor Dhanush today appeared at the Madurai bench of Madras High Court after it wanted to verify his identification marks in connection with the paternity claim made by an elderly couple.
The actor was surrounded by a controversy recently after the couple R Kathiresan and K Meenakshi from Madurai, claimed Dhanush to be their son. The couple also sought a monthly maintenance of Rs 65,000 from him.
In the series of events that followed, Dhanush refused the claim and voiced his suspicion that someone else might be behind the couple to extract money from him.
However, the couple refused to accept Dhanush’s claim and prompted the judge to make the actor personally appear to verify the identification marks.
So the Madurai bench directed the actor to appear today to check if he had identification marks including a mole on his right collarbone and a scar on the right forearm as mentioned in the school transfer certificate of the couple’s son.
Dhanush reached the court with his father and director Kasthuriraja and mother Vijayalakshmi. The process of verifying Dhanush’s birthmarks was carried out by the Dean of Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai and his team at the Registrar (Judicial) G Ilangovan’s chamber.
Meanwhile, the judge adjourned the case to Thursday for further arguments awaiting the results of the doctor’s verification.
