Dr Y V Reddy, former Governor of RBI has been lauded for his contributions to the country's external sector management, monetary stability and financial sector reforms.
        
 

The man who exercised a tight grip on the inflation and brought transparency in the functioning of RBI, Dr Reddy, is all set to retrace his professional journery through his book titled 'India and the global financial crisis: Managing money and finance,' published by Orient Blackswan Private Limited.

The book was released today by Deepak Parekh, Chairman, HDFC Bank. The function was graced by Prof C H Hanumantha Rao, Honorary Professor and Chairman, Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad and B P R Vithal, IAS (retd).

The launch was also presided over by M Narsimham, former Governor RBI.  In the wake of the ongoing financial crisis, the book provides vital insights into some crucial-policies and strategies which had - put the Indian economy on a growth trajectory with impressive stability in the recent past.

With a special focus on money, finance and banking, the book also lays emphasis on the financial integration of the Indian and the global economy.

The exhaustive introduction and the epilogue written by Reddy, further delves into the present day challenges and gives an account of global imbalances, the turmoil in financial markets, and ongoing efforts towards recovery and reform.
       
Through his book, Reddy provides a ring side view of the dynamics of policy making, especially the interaction between central bank and public policy. This volume combines an in-depth understanding of theory and practice of policy, which is of great importance for  economists, policy makers, market participants and academicians.
