Chitra Pournami in Goddess Amman temple

It was a confluence of humanity, with faith in Goddess Amman. This edition of Chitra Pournami celebrations witnessed thousands of devotees trying to get a glimpse of Amma, as spiritualist Bangaru Adigalar is popularly known in this small town on the Chennai-Tiruchi Highway.

The temple witnessed hundreds of devotees performing yagam for prosperity. The main Yaga Gundam was lit by Bangaru Adigalar amidst chanting of Om Sakthi ! Om Sakthi !.

After lighting of the Yaga Gundam, Adigalar blessed the devotees. This went on for almost an hour and many had travelled long distance to take part in the rituals.

Vasantha, a devotee from Chennai, said that it was the first time she was taking part in the celebrations. She said,’ I felt happy after receiving the blessings of Amma.’

Jayasree Vijayakumar has come from Riyadh to take part in the celebrations. She said, ‘My husband was saved by the grace of Amma when an earthquake hit Turkey’.
 
‘Amma has blessed us with smart boy and I am here to thank her’, she added.

Mohan Nair feels that it is the blessings of Amma which helped him  overcome tough times in life. ‘For the past four years, I’ve been visiting this temple and I can feel the grace of Amma’, he said. This year, devotees were given a sapling to mitigate the effects of global warming.
