VIT launches higher education for all initiative

As a first of its kind initiative in the country VIT University has launched higher education for all programme in Vellore today.
.

The special programme was inaugurated by CPI national secretary D Raja at Government Higher Secondary School, Gudiyatham.

Speaking on the occasion VIT University Chancellor G Viswanathan said that the number of students opting for higher education after Plus Two is  very negligible and the university devised a new programme to turn around this scenario.

He also said K V Kuppam and Gudiyatham constituency in the district  would be covered under the first phase of the programme.

Viswanathan said this year 35,000 students are pursuing Plus Two and all of them need to be provided with higher education.  

He also said if the nation provides higher education for all who had completed Plus Two then by 2015 we could achieve an enrollment of 30 per cent in higher education institutions. 'This would help India leap forward than many developed countries,' he added.

Vellore Member of Parliament Abdul Rahman, MLAs Tamilarasan and Lingamuthu participated.
