Cultural fete kicks off

Cultural programmes  attract a large amount of tourists to the state. The government of Tamilnadu was ready to support and sponsor more cultural programmes in the future  said VK Jayakody Secretary Of The Tourist And Culture Department.

Addressing a function to mark the inauguration of the Tamilnadu Iyal Isai Nataka Naatiya Vizha of the Tamilnadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram at the Goverment Music College, he said it was the first time that such a long festival for thirteen days was being organised by the manram. More such cultural programmes should be organised all over the state to spread the message of our culture and tradition.

Tourists visited the state not only to see places of historical and religious interests but also to attend cultural programmes. Between October and March  many NRI’s came to attend the music festivals, he pointed out.

Jayakodi also said that government has also planned any new schemes for the benefit of artistes. Actress Sachu. secretary of the Manram said it was a long cherished dream of hers to hold a long arts festival for many years. Music director M S Vishwanathan spoke.

Artistes from all over the country will be taking part in this festival. The festival is on from 28 October to 9 November. Programmes will be held daily at 6 pm at the premises of the Government Music College, RA Puram.
