Vilasrao Deshmukh passes away

Union minister and former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh died in Chennai today afternoon. He was 67.
.

Deshmukh was battling liver cancer in a city hospital. Earlier, a 31-year-old driver, whose liver and kidney were supposed to be transplanted to Deshmukh, passed away at the Government General Hospital in Chennai in the wee hours of today.

It may be recalled that the driver was hit by an ambulance while he was riding his bike on East Coast Road on Saturday and was brought to the Government General Hospital.

Vilasrao Deshmukh who suffered serious liver ailments was brought to a private hospital in Chennai a few days ago. Liver specialist Mohammed Rela was attending to the former Maharashtra Chief Minister.
