Huge cut-outs of actor Ajith, fans shouting slogans hailing him and the non-stop blinking of the cameras marked the muhurrat of Ajith starrer Asal in Chennai today. Produced by Sivaji Films and directed by Charan, the movie features Ajith and Sameera Reddy in lead roles.

The celebrations reached its peak as Rajnikanth arrived at the venue to greet Ajith along with his daughter Soundarya Rajnikanth. Speaking on the occasion, Rajnikanth said, ‘Sivaji Films is a reputed banner in South India. When I was down and out after Baba debacle, Ram Kumar and Prabhu, sons of Sivaji Ganesan, did Chandramukhi with me. The rest is all history. I wish Asal to repeat the magic of Chandramukhi’.

K Balachander, editor Mohan, lyricist Vairamuthu among others  attended the muhurrat. Balachander commenced the shooting and expressed confidence that Asal would make it big.  On his part, Charan said, ‘Asal is an asal Thala padam and asal commercial padam’.

Among those present on the occasion include Soundarya Rajnikanth, Actors Ajith, Suriya, Prabhu, Karthi, Vishnuvardhan, Yuhi Sethu, directors Prathap Pothen, Jayam Raja, producers A V M Saravanan, M S Guhan, Anandha Suresh, Ramkumar and editor Anthony.
