Speaking about the film, Karan said, ‘it is an interesting theme. Gopi narrated the story with great involvement. It has got enough thrills  and suspense element in it’.

‘There are also mass elements laced in this story. I like the title for its  great appeal’, he added. Music composer Dheena and Karan come together for the third time. ‘We teamed up to taste success in Kokki and Karuppasamy Kuthagaikarar. Hopefully the songs in Malayan too would rock’, said Dheena.

On his part, director Gopi said, ‘ I can never imagine any other actor other than Karan doing the lead role in Malayan. It is a story tailor-made for him. I am confident that the movie would make it big’.

Shammu, who played a important role in director Priyadharshan’s much-acclaimed Kancheevaram, plays Karan’s ladylove in the film. Udhayathara is also part of the cast.
Karan has his handful. Some of the forthcoming projects include Kanagavel Khaakha, Kandha and Thiru Vittethi Sundar.
