After Friends, filmmaker Siddique and Vijay are joining hands for  Kavalan. With Asin, Vadivelu and Rajkiran in pivotal roles, the movie has music by Vidyasagar. Speaking at a function to announce the title of the movie in Chennai on Thursday, Vijay said, ‘it will have action, romance and humour at right mix’.
.
‘I admire director Siddique, who has a firm grip on the story. It is not a raw action film as the title would suggest. Like my past movies, there would be romance in it. Asin has done her best. Vadivelu will bring the roof down with laughter’, said Vijay.

On his part, Vadivelu says, ‘comedy has always been the hallmark of Siddique’s films. I worked with him in Friends and Engal Anna. Both were remembered for its unadulterated comedy. I wish Kavalan would join the list’.

A remake of Malayalam hit Bodyguard, Kavalan has come good and would hit the screens this December, said Siddique.

After making her presence in Bollywood with film Ghajini, Asin is back to her familiar territory with Kavalan.
‘ I happy to be here again. I have not given up Tamil films for Bollywood.

Though I was busy in Hindi films. I was looking for a right script to do a movie again in Tamil. Thankfully Siddique gave me the offer to work in Kavalan. It is not a typical mass masala. The heroine has a part to play’.

Asin says, ‘ I have seen the Malayalam original, where Nayanthara has done really well. Hopefully I do justice to the role. ’It’s her third film for her with Vijay after Sivakasi and Pokkiri. Kavalan is produced by Romesh Babu and has cinematography by Ekambaram.
