Sir,
It refers to justified decision of Special Advisory Board of Allahabad High Court to revoke National Security Act (NSA) against Varun Gandhi.

Without going into controversy of tapes being doctored or not, hate-speeches are usual and dirty feature of Indian politics especially to lure minority-votes, and invoking NSA against Varun Gandhi by UP government was also a political move of Chief Minister Mayawati to lure minority votes by targeting young BJP leader for his alleged anti-minority hate-speech. It is not understood how Varun Gandhi was held responsible for failure of UP police to control crowd gathered on arrest of young BJP leader because Varun Gandhi was at that time in police custody! Pseudo-secular forces in our country never object to hate-speeches from or to lure minorities. UP government should clarify its stand on its minister Haji Yaqoob Qureishi’s public-speech offering rupees 51-crore bounty for murder of Danish cartoonist. Do such ‘fatwas’ not create hatred amongst different sections of society? Things can improve only when politicians are not allowed to announce special concessions and favours for minority vote-bank. Why no action was taken against Union Railway Minister when Lalu Yadav provoked minority vote-bank through his infamous speech to crush Varun Gandhi by a roller if he would have been Union Home Minister? Even no action was taken against Union Minister AR Antuley when he sprinkled salt on wounds of countrymen by even smelling foul play and conspiracy in killing of Special Task Force Chief Hemant Karkare in infamous 26/11 terror-attack on Mumbai. S C Agrawal, Delhi Engrossing battle Sir, The race for the last four berths in the second edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) has got closer, which is good. Unlike last year when the leading sides pulled away from the rest early in the race, things have been more evenly spread this time around. Chennai Super Kings, supposedly the strongest team in the IPL, has bounced back after an unimpressive start and on current form looks good enough to grab the title. Delhi Daredevils too can’t be taken lightly as they have posted some impressive wins in their campaign. Matthew Hayden has been leading CSK’s charge and one wonders why he chose to quit international cricket. His attacking ways have been at the forefront of the Chennai side’s winning run. The Aussie’s performance will hold the key to Dhoni’s men going all the way. However, fielding has been CSK’s achilles heel and they need to set things in order if they have to beat back the bigger challenges that lie ahead. Things will become interesting as IPL-2 enters the decisive phase. Though Kolkata Knight Riders have been eliminated, they can spoil the chances of the semifinal aspirants. It has been a disappointing display by KKR despite having some big names in their line-up. N Harinarayana, Triplicane |
