‘Carnatic music is the way to divinity’. This was stressed Saturday during the decennial celebrations of Sri Krishna Fine Arts Society in suburban Nanganallur. Carnatic music once sung in temples cannot be taken as a past-time as it ennobles souls, said N V Subramanian, former Southern Railway additional general manager and member of the Society, in his address during the celebrations. |

Musician T R Subramanian was the chief guest. Sangeetha vidwan product from Government Music College, Subramanian spoke at length on how Mylapore came to be a music hub and now Nanganallur was the cultural nucleus of Chennai. Felicitations were offered by K Sundararajan, secretary of Sri Thiagaraja Sangeetha Samajam, Nanganallur. Music teacher Lalitha Seetharaman hoped the Society would prosper and prayed for all to become members. Later, a musical concert by Gayatri Girish, accompanied by L Ramakrishnan on the violin and Shertalai Ananthakrishnan on the mridangam was held.
