Rotary Club of Madras under ‘Gift of Sight’ project has completed 3,091 free cataract  surgeries for the needy at Sankara Eye Hospital, Pammal.

According to a press release, the ‘Gift of Sight’ project is a massive undertaking with community mobilization and volunteers to provide the gift of sight for one lakh needy people.

At a function held recently, Gift of Sight, India, chairman, Manjit S Sawhney handed over the cheque for Rs 14.29 lakh to Dr Surendranath Reddy, chief vitreo retinal surgeon, Pammal Sankara Eye Hospital.  

Past District Governors of Rotary International District 3230 Benjamin Cherian, Prabhakar, Rajaramakrishnan, Krishnaswami, Dr Natarajan, Dr Ramachandran, Ramkumar, Kamdar, Venkatesh, T K Balakrishnan and K Rajesh were present.
