The new delivery centre at McKinley Hills in Manila is a state-of-the-art facility built to service nearly 2,000 global clients across North America and Europe.
UST Global has come to Manila after recognising the Philippines as an emerging destination for IT outsourcing and identifying the potential growth rate in this archipelago.
Ever since the company began its first unit in Manila proper, the centre has been in expansion mode in preparation for opening this larger, best-in-class work environment at McKinley Hills near the capital city.
In accordance with the aggressive growth plans drawn up by the California-based IT major across Asia-Pacific, there has been a constant increase in the headcount at its Manila centre.
In the first phase of expansion, UST Global would seek to hire around 1,000 IT professionals at the new centre over the next 12 months and envisioned the workforce growing to more than 5,000 people over the next few years.
Since UST Global offered solutions for the diverse markets, the professionals at the Manila centre would be working closely with some of the most powerful enterprises in the world.
Commenting on the setting up of its second facility in Manila, UST Global CEO Sajan Pillai said in the past 10 years, the company has been working with some of the biggest names in the global business.
‘Through our new centre in Manila, we have access to some of Asia’s most talented professionals for building our Engagement Model. We are also expanding in other parts of the world such as Latin America with the same objective of tapping into these overlooked talent pools,’ he said.
Moreover, he said IT professionals could expect a world-class work environment at the new facility as the company believed in not only delivering smart solutions but also in building strong relationships with its associates giving them an opportunity to develop their competencies and skills.
Speaking on the occasion, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said, ‘we believe that we need to focus on three areas to develop IT in the Philippines — connectivity infrastructure; policies and good environment; and HR development.
We have half a million jobs created in the BPO space and it is our time to move to the next level of value-added services, that is IT processes.
We thank UST Global for investing in the Philippines and creating opportunities for Filipinos both experienced as well as fresh graduates thereby increasing our competitiveness.’
Expressing his views, UST Global president Joe Nalkara predicted that the Manila centre would be an important location to gain strategic advantage of the company given its expanding reach in the Asia-Pacific markets.
He said the company had selected the Philippines because of the highly skilled and refined work culture prevalent in Manila.
‘This is a perfect match with the style of functioning we follow elsewhere in our centres,’ he said. Around the world, UST Global has been redefining the rules of outsourcing with its strong, client-based mode of functioning which helped the corporates to radically transform business.
This mission of ‘transforming lives’ is being carried forward with the new centre in Manila at UST Global.
