Between Belgium and India

'Trade between India and Belgium is well known. It is getting beyond diamonds.' said president of Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry(MCCI) Srinivasaraghavan at a meeting to understand the trade relations and business opportunities between the two countries in Chennai Tuesday.

Consul general for Belgium in Mumbai, Karl Van Den Bossche at the meeting said, 'Both the countries share a special relationship. Our country's economy is solely based on export.'

He added that he could see Chennai as a very important part of India, as it plays host to many international companies. He also talked about the importance of SMEs in both the countries and how it would help in building better relationships between the two countries.

The president of MCCI said, 'Though MCCI is 175 years old as of 2011, it is still a growing organisation. We would like to see countries like Belgium investing time and money in Chennai.'
