NLC net rises in first quarter

NLC net rises in first quarter of Rs 288 crore for the first quarter (Q1) ended 30 June in the current fiscal, a slight improvement from Rs 286 crore recorded in the same quarter of the previous year.

Speaking at a press conference today, NLC chairman and managing director A R Ansari said total income for the Q1 has decreased to Rs 1,036 crore from Rs 1,238 crore posted in the same period of the last year.
NLC has created a new record by producing 493.51 crore unit of electricity which was higher than the target of 436.50 crore unit fixed by the government for the quarter under review, thus posting a 13 per cent growth year-on-year and 25 per cent growth over the preceding quarter ended 30 March 2009.

In the month of June 2009, NLC’s second unit has produced 102.595 crore unit of power in 26 days. The corporation has also extracted 58.52 lakh tonne of lignite which was 11 percent higher than the last financial year end. ‘Tamilnadu government is helping us in many ways in terms of land allocation for setting up a new thermal power plant in the state and the land will be finalised in next few months,’ said Ansari.
