The towering presence of Raj Kiran should do the film Muni a lot of good, if one goes by the reports trickling in from Kollywood. Director turned producer Saran has roped in Lawrence Raghavendra for his home banner Gemini Productions is the other attraction.
Having made his mark in Telugu, Lawrence faces an acid test in his directorial debut in Tamil. A double task for Lawrence as he essays an important role too in Muni. The supporting cast has Vedika, Kovai Sarala and Ramesh Kanna.
As the title suggests, the crux of the movie is about the super natural powers with Raj Kiran as the pivot, marshalling his resources. After all the adulation he enjoyed in Thavamai Thavamirundhu, Raj Kiran reportedly spurned many offers for he was not impressed with the scripts.
According to sources, after the critical acclaim of his character in Cheran's last venture, followed by another hit film Sanda Kozhi, he was just waiting for a right story and script to add feathers to his acting cap.
Enjoying a spell of success in Telugu is Lawrence with hits like Mass and Style. No slouch in acting too, for he made his presence felt in movies like Amarkalam and Parthale Paravasam in Kollywood.
Lawrence says though his directorial venture Muni sounds odd, the film will cater to all sections of cine-goers. Two songs were canned in mammoth sets and in remaining ones, some dash of foreign flavour had been sprinkled.
Muniswaran temple at Burma Colony in Chennai witnessed the coming together of several Kollywood artistes for canning a song sequence in Muni recently. Bharadwaj has scored the music.
