Parthiban at his subdued best

Playing a soft subdued character of a writer, actor-director Parthiban was at his dignified best in Azhagi. He continued from where he had left off in Bharathi Kannamma. In similar lines, Parthiban portrays the character of a writer in Ammuvagiya Naan. Confined to bits and pieces roles, the movie should do a lot good to the aspirations of actress Bharathi. Director Padma Magan said the thrust has been on the conflict of the common man in his fight for social justice.

Understandably, Bharathi is excited at the privileged opportunity of working with an actor of Parthiban's range. Did she had any reservations to play the role of a harlot?

'Once the storylines were detailed to me, I saw the scope to perform in what I would deem it as a dream role. Not every day you expect to get such roles. There is every reason to feel optimistic of the movie's reach to the masses. Realism is the key word in my character with focus on the dialect. I vibed well with Parthiban, whose support helped me derive new meanings to the script. I just cannot wait for the release.' Underplaying his seniority, Parthiban was all praise for Padma Magan. 'On the hunt for a good storyline, the director came up with this offering. One look was suffice to see the revolutionary storyline. It should strike a chord with the viewers and win accolades.'

Padma Magan is keen to make amends for the setback of Pallavan . 'You learn from the mistakes. I have done my best to make the blend of arts and commercial aspects to a nicety. It is a daringly different movie aimed to touch the pulse of the audience.' The other credits are: Sabesh-Murali (music); Palani Bharathi-Surulirajan (lyrics) and M S Prabhu (cinematography).
