        After a brief interval, Mammooty is back in Tamil to play the title role in Aruvadai. He dons the role of a CBI Officer in the film.

        Produced by Pankaj Films' Henry, the movie features Sneha opposite him. Arjun and Jay Akash are also in the cast.

        The producer Pankaj Henry had planned to release the film with its original title Vandhe Matharam, but later changed to capitalise on Tamilnadu government's recent announcement to provide tax exemption to films titled in Tamil.

        It is a movie on patriotic theme and is made simultaneously in Tamil and Malayalam.

        After playing some unconventional characters, Sneha is doing the role of an Air Force officer. 'I have done a variety of roles, but for the first time I am acting as air force officer. I like the role very much.'

        Producer Henry has written the screenplay for the first time.

        The film has been shot in Chennai, Kochi, Marthandam, Thengapattinam and Ilayankudi. The music for the film has been scored by Vidyasagar, and the film is being directed by Aravind.
