AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Silent performer of small & big screen

From Shanmugapriya to Neepa, the name change took only seconds. But to play the character of Porkodi in Perisu , the collegiate has to consume dollops of chocolates and ice creams. Not that was a weighty problem but getting back to square one was some task.

The rub was to play the love-interest of a history-sheeter where the only avenue to convey the feelings was through the eyes. A character which called for the twin traits of subtlety and maturity, Neepa was at her charming and elegance-personified. Walking away with honours in a script depicting the life of a history sheeter (real happening) was a fact grimly acknowledged in the film circles.

Daughter of reputed dance directors Malini and Vaman, Neepa's background did help to get the early look-in from directors scouting new talents. Precisely how the television serial Kavyangali happened, landing her in lap.

'In a slightly negative character had good mileage to display varied emotions. At the receiving end of the choicest abuses, it helped to know the impact and the reach of the character. A big moment in my life and a warm pat from my parents in having passed the initial test.'

Among the crowd in Krishna Cottage, Neepa looked lost there but on reflection counted the humour angle. Had the first feel of comedy - 'nothing big there but good enough to throw some inputs of my abilities.'

A sister's role in Kannum Kannum should normally pass off as the also rans. In for a pleasant surprise was Neepa when producer Oscar Ravi called up to congratulate her good work, after a sneak preview.

Changing gears to sport the trousers and shirt is Neepa in Surya, as the aspirant model dreaming big. 'Had my reservations to break the image but saw an opportunity to have a knock at an untried area. I feel it is a small act of changing the body language. My heart longing for a bit of variation is the stark truth.'

Back to the sister's role in Pallikudam , Neepa takes solace at the big names in fray - Thankar Bachan the director with Shriya Reddy and Sneha as co-stars.

The silent performer of Kollywood is looking for the sluice gate to open. Springing a surprise is the in-thing for the resident of Bharatidasan Colony (KK Nagar). An early award by way of Tamil Cinema Fans Association has set the adrenaline flowing overtime.
