AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Will three do the trick for Vadivelu?

Imsai Arasan's success had sent Vadivelu's stock soaring high in Kollywood.

With renewed vigour, the actor is shooting for a mythology-themed film Indiralohathil Na Azhagappan, which also features Vadivelu as the hero. He plays triple roles in the movie - Lord Indira, Yamaraja and an ordinary youth Azhagappan.

Produced by Manickam Narayanan, the shooting commenced at a grand set erected by Thottatharani replicating Indiraloham at Prasad Studios recently.

Thambi Ramiah is wielding the megaphone and the film features Malayalam actress Raari and a Mysore girl Theetha as the heroines.

Vadivelu, who has played the comedian in over 450 films, is thrilled at the prospect being the hero again.

Taking time off his busy schedule, the comedian-turned-hero shares his thoughts on the movie.

        Excerpts from the interview

Q: Why another historical film after Imsai Arasan?

A: After Imsai Arasan, I got several offers to play the hero again. But I wanted my next attempt to be different from the run-of-the-mill stuff. The moment Thambi Ramiah narrated the story of Indiralohathil Na Azhagappan it attracted me. It is a story that would have enough scope for a comedian like me.

Q: What is Indiralohathil Na Azhagappan all about?

A: It is the story of a youth, who reaches the heaven and is floored to see Lord Indira resembling him. He then visits Yamaloham, where Lord Yamaraja too resembles him. The encounter between the three forms the crux.

Q: What are the difficulties involved in doing multiple roles?

A: I have to change my body language and my dialogue delivery. Computer Graphics have come to my rescue in many places. It is a new attempt on the silver screen.

Q: How difficult is playing mythological characters?

A: I have to wear rich costumes, heavy jewellery and look grand on the screen. It takes over a couple of hours for me to get myself ready with the makeup.

Q: Throw some light on the grand set erected by art director Thottatharani?

A: It is a real heaven on earth. The courtyard of Lord Indira has been recreated with great difficulty. The set had an ivory-pearl finish and these colours were chosen by the art director since they reflect and enhance the colour of costumes worn by the artistes.
