        After a year with Sillunu Oru Kadhal being his last, actor Surya is gearing up to complete Vel. The movie features Surya in a dual role and acting opposite him is Asin, who plays a radio jockey.

        Speaking on the movie, Surya says, 'we have highlighted the need for the joint family system, that is on the decline today. Our culture and values are lost due to the emergence of nuclear families.'

        With Surya's Varanam Aayiram is slated to hit theatres only in 2008, Vel, which is being directed by Hari, would be released this Deepavali.

        Hari says, 'the script has been well crafted with all sharpness like its title. Surya, well known for his dedication, is equipping himself to fit into the scheme of things.'

        Produced by Raja Kaliamman Media Works, the movie has musical score by Yuvanshankar Raja.

        Nasser, Vadivelu, among others, play prominent roles in the movie.
