        Sangeetha is going strong and steady in her second innings. After making a comeback in Pithamagan, Sangeetha, once considered a jinxed actress, has come up with a decent performance donning meaty roles. Says Sangeetha: 'My next film Dhanam will be no different'.

        Dhanam is a story of a Devadasi, a system which was prevalent in some parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and other places in the country. Sangeetha plays the protagonist in the movie.

        Says director Siva: 'These women are generally portrayed in a bad light. I have taken a conscious decision to show the other facet of those condemned by society.

        People fail to understand that they are human beings too and go through emotions like any normal person. As a creator, I was moved by the sufferings they undergo day in and day out.'

        'Nobody has come out with the right solutions for these women'.

        Siva has penned the script besides directing the film and Ilayaraja has scored the music. Thotta Tharani is the art director and veteran filmmaker and editor B Lenin is in charge of editing.

        'Though the plot is related to Devadasi system, I would never like to touch the issue. The story is totally a different one. The movie is about how Sangeetha faces all these problems.'

        Plans are on to release the film soon. Girish Karnad, one of the national award winners, Kotta Srinivasa Rao, Ashish Vidyarthi, Rajkapoor, Karunaas and Ilavarasu are in the cast.
