In keeping with family tradition

Even before the magnum opus Sivaji could see the light of the day, the other Sivaji has taken off. The grandson of Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan and son of Ramkumar is on the job of keeping the family tradition alive.

Singakutti is the title of the movie for the debutant Sivaji. Reports have trickled in that the youngster has honed his skills in dance, stunt and allied areas before taking the plunge.

Known for his commercial saleability, director A Venkatesh has been given the mantle. Of his work, some of the better ones were Bhagavathi, Eye, Chanakya, Vathiyar, Kuthu and Dham.

The schedule kicked off recently with the punch dialogue of the latest hero in the bandwagon. 'I have not emerged from nowhere having planned my arrival,' found an appreciative gathering slipping into nostalgia. Decades ago, the opening lines of the late Sivaji Ganesan - Success, Success in Parasakthi - was seen as a good augury.

For a song canned in the Film City here, a bevy of models were flown in from Mumbai, forming a ring around Sivaji shot under lights.

Venkatesh said he is still on the hunt of finding the right 'match' for Sivaji. 'Most likely it will be a Mumbai girl but also looking at other avenues. I am still to decide on the leading heroine, who will dance to a popular number.'

The supporting cast has Vivek, Saranya, Ashish Vidyarthi, Srinath, Ilavarasu and Sampath besides the yesteryear actress Sripriya in a cameo role.

Debutant Prasanna Sekar will compose the musical score. R T Rajasekar (cinematography), Vijayamurugan (art), Pattukottai Prabhakar (dialogues), Kanal Kannan (stunt), Brinda & Dinesh (dance) and Vaali (lyrics) are the other prominent names.
