| AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA |
The spindly Dhanush is going for an image make-over. He played pivotal roles in adult themed-movies followed by a string of action-packed films. A flop in his last outing Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram altered all his plans to establish himself as a mass-hero.
Now Dhanush is eyeing a spot among the romantic heroes
His forthcoming films Yaradi Nee Mohini and Polladhavan feature him in candyfloss softness.
Taking time off his busy schedule while shooting for Polladhavan at Prasad Studios, Dhanush shares his thoughts on his forthcoming movies and his future plans.
'I am not keen on experimenting doing serious roles now. I am still young and have enough time left to try varied things. For now, my mission is to consolidate myself in the industry', he says.
Excerpts from the interview
Q: Is it an anti-hero role you are playing in Polladhavan?
A: No, I play a boy next-door with dreams and aspirations to come up in life. The problems that I encounter in realising my mission is what the story is all about. Vetrimaran, who had worked as an associate to cinematographer - director Balu Mahendra is directing the film. Divya plays my heroine. It is a romantic entertainer and we are planning for a release this September.
Q: How is Yaradi Nee Mohini shaping up?
A: The shooting is on at a rapid pace. It is a remake of my brother Selvaraghavan's latest Telugu hit Adavari Mataluku Ardhalae Verulae and directing the movie is Jawahar, an associate of my brother. Nayantara has come up with a solid performance. It is a commercial entertainer laced with humour and romance.
Q: Are you playing a guest role in Selvah's Ayirathil Oruvan?
A: Selvaraghavan is directing Paruthiveeran fame Karthi and Reema Sen for Ayirathil Oruvan. He has not approached me to act in the film. I was surprised to read such reports in a section of the media.
Q: Will you work with Selvaraghavan again?
A: He is an excellent director. I got an identity only after working in his films - Thulluvatho Illamai and Kadhal Kondein. I am very eager to work with him again. Hopefully by next year, I will play the lead role in a Selvah's movie.
Q: What are your forthcoming films?
A: After Polladhavan and Yaradi Nee Mohini, I will be acting in Goutham Menon's film. It will be followed by a movie with Selvaraghavan. Also, a movie for producer Krishnakanth's Indan Theatres is on the cards.
Q: Do you want to go your father-in-law's (Rajnikanth's) way?
A: I am a great fan of Rajnikanth. I grew up watching his movies. But at the same time, I would love to establish an identity for myself.
I don't want to see myself as Rajnikanth's successor. His achievements are lofty, whereas I am still in my early days.
