The Tamilnadu government has declared a public holiday tomorrow as a mark of respect to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who passed away this evening in Delhi.
“The first Independence Day is still fresh in my mind. It was a wonderful morning, where houses at my street in Tirupur were decorated with colourful flowers. Women were seen drawing rangolis and tri-colour flags were hoisted in every household. Patriotic songs were played through speakers as well,” recollects Krishnamurthy.
“He was an MLA and popular playwright when the shoot of ‘Puthumai Pithan’ was on. I met him face-to-face for the first time at the shooting spot. Director T R Ramanna introduced me as an actor playing the role of Nallannan in the movie. He gave me my dialogues and watched how I performed. At the end of the shoot, he appreciated me for acting well.”
