Cricketer Bavanarayanan passes away

M G Bavanarayanan, who was part of the Tamilnadu team (then Madras) which won its maiden Ranji Trophy title in 1954-55, passed away here on Wednesday. He was 90 and is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.

Govt announces cash incentives for medal winners in Asiad

The Tamilnadu government today announced cash incentives for four sportspersons from the state who won medals in the ongoing Asian Games in Indonesia. Chief Minister K Palaniswami lauded athlete Arokia Rajiv, member of the silver medal-winning 4X400m mixed relay team for his feat and announced Rs 30 lakh cash incentive.

Modi in Nepal to attend BIMSTEC Summit
