In a big relief to tipplers who are suffering without liquor ever since lockdown came into effect during the last week of March, the Tamilnadu government today announced that TASMAC liquor shops would be reopened in the State 7 May.

In its highest ever single-day jump, Tamilnadu today reported 527 new Covid-19 positive cases. Chennai alone contributed 266 to this figure. The State also reported one death and the toll is now at 31.

Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today called on Governor Banwarilal Purohit at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai and discussed measures being taken to control the spread of coronavirus in the State.
