Tamilnadu today registered 606 new Covid-19 cases, and the total number of infections has touched 27,43,427.

Tamilnadu Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan today expressed concerns over the lack of Covid-19 appropriate behavior in public places and gatherings, in view of the Omicron variant.

The Union government will be deploying a multi-disciplinary team to 10 States which have continued to report a spike in Omicron variant of coronavirus or have a slow Covid vaccination pace.

India has reported 7,189 new cases of Covid-19 and 387 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union health ministry said today. India’s Omicron tally currently stands at 415, as per the government.

India recorded 122 cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus in 24 hours, the highest so far, pushing its tally 415. According to the Union government’s data, 115 people have recovered from the infection to date.

Actor Vadivelu was tested positive for Covid-19 after his return from the UK. The actor is suspected to have been infected by the Omicron variant.
