Madurai train accident: Railway police arrest five persons


Railway police have arrested five persons on connection with a fire at a tourist coach in a train near Madurai railway station. The mishap left nine dead and several others injured Following an enquiry, five persons have been arrested. They were identified as Sathyaprakash, Narendra, Kardish Sakhani, Deepak and Sukum Kashyap. A case against them has been booked under Sections 302, 304, 285 of IPC and 164 of IR Act Railway safety commissioner who interacted with the injured in the fire accident ruled out any conspiracy. Few bundles of burnt currency notes were recovered from the coach. Addressing reporters, the general manager of Southern Railway, RN Singh, said, “An FIR has been filed by the GRP under relevant IPC sections and those of the Railway Act. Those responsible will face the full force of the law.”
