‘DMK govt retrieves temple assets worth Rs 5,000 crore from encroachers’


As part of the special drive to protect the Hindu temples and their properties, the Tamil Nadu government’s Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department retrieved 5,538 acres of temple lands belonging to various temples worth Rs 5,137 crore from encroachers in the last 25 months. The highest number of properties retrieved are from Kancheepuram which is worth Rs.1,712 crore followed by Chennai with properties worth Rs 918 crore and Coimbatore with properties worth Rs. 503 crore.
