Modi launches second Vande Bharat rail service in TN


In a significant development for the state of Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second Vande Bharat rail service, connecting Tirunelveli to Chennai, through a video conferencing ceremony held on Sunday. The new rail service promises to enhance connectivity and convenience for the people of Tamil Nadu and bolster the state’s railway infrastructure.
The train embarked on its maiden journey from Tirunelveli, commencing its route at around 1 p.m. Notably, Dr. Tamilisai Sounderarajan, the Governor of Telangana, and the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry were among the distinguished passengers who traveled on the inaugural trip, further emphasizing the importance of this rail service.
Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan, shared his thoughts on the occasion. He praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, highlighting the revolutionary changes in rail services under his administration. The introduction of Vande Bharat trains, in particular, has brought a unique and comfortable travel experience to the people.
Dr. Murugan further revealed that a substantial investment of 6,000 crore rupees had been allocated to various rail projects in the region. The transformation extended to the renovation of key railway stations, with Egmore, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Rameswaram, and Kanyakumari benefiting from a total expenditure of 1,000 crore rupees. This substantial investment is expected to improve passenger amenities and overall infrastructure at these crucial stations.
Moreover, the Union Minister disclosed that nine new railway projects had been successfully implemented in Tamil Nadu. These projects are anticipated to not only enhance connectivity within the state but also stimulate economic development and growth.
