NDA unfazed by AIADMK’S decision, says Annamalai

In a recent statement, K Annamalai, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu, expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would remain strong, even if the AIADMK were to form a new alliance. Annamalai’s remarks came during a press interaction in Coimbatore, where he emphasized that alliance decisions ultimately rested with the national leadership of the party.
Annamalai, who was participating in a cleanliness drive at a lake in Coimbatore, revealed that he had not been asked to submit any reports regarding the potential break-up of the alliance with the AIADMK. However, he was resolute in his belief that the NDA would not falter, even in the face of AIADMK’s alliance decisions.
The BJP leader also addressed his upcoming visit to New Delhi, stating that it was a routine visit intended to discuss his ‘padayatra’ (foot march). He emphasized that he was not involved in “adjustment politics” and had entered politics with a different motivation, highlighting the BJP’s optimism about winning double-digit seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai did not shy away from criticizing the Communist parties for their support of the DMK, accusing them of working against the nation’s development. When asked about the possibility of releasing a list of corruption allegations against AIADMK leaders similar to what was done for DMK functionaries, Annamalai responded with a cryptic “Wait and watch.”
He also alleged that the DMK and other parties were targeting the BJP out of fear of the party’s growth in the state.
