Former Chennai Mayor’s son found dead in Himachal Pradesh river tragedy


Tragedy struck the family of former Chennai mayor Saidai Duraisamy as the body of his son, Vetri Duraisamy, was recovered from the Sutlej river in Himachal Pradesh on Monday, February 12th. The grim discovery comes after a harrowing ordeal that began when the car Vetri was traveling in veered off the road and plunged into the river on February 4th near Kashang Nala NH 05 in Kinnaur district.

The fatal accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the car’s tragic descent into the river. Sadly, while Vetri Duraisamy was reported missing, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Tanjin, was declared dead on the scene. Another co-passenger, Gopinath, survived the ordeal but was admitted to a hospital for medical attention.

Sources revealed that Vetri Duraisamy had been in Himachal Pradesh as part of a film production crew. Known for his talent and creative prowess, Vetri had directed the Tamil film ‘Endraavathu Oru Naal’ in 2021, which garnered acclaim and accolades at various international film festivals. His untimely demise has left a void in both the film industry and the hearts of those who knew him.

The tragic incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the city of Chennai and beyond, as friends, family, and colleagues mourn the loss of a promising young talent.
