Drug trafficking: DMK denies links to Jaffer Sadiq

Amidst allegations linking the ruling DMK to the drug trafficking network allegedly orchestrated by AR Jaffer Sadiq, the party vehemently denied any association with the accused. State Law Minister S Regupathy addressed reporters at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, asserting the party’s innocence and condemning what he described as the BJP’s attempts to tarnish the DMK’s reputation for political gain.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) recently revealed that investigations into the drug trafficking network led by Jaffer Sadiq have uncovered potential connections with the Kollywood film industry and some high-profile individuals, alongside instances of political funding. However, Minister Regupathy vehemently refuted these claims, stating unequivocally that Jaffer Sadiq has no affiliation with the DMK.
In a scathing rebuke aimed at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Minister Regupathy accused the party of engaging in a calculated campaign to discredit the DMK. He dismissed the BJP’s tactics as futile, asserting that attempts to tarnish the DMK’s image would not succeed in Tamil Nadu or across India.
“The BJP is misjudging its ability to gain political advantage by besmirching the DMK, a party that has played a pivotal role in national mobilization to liberate India from the dictatorial grip of the BJP. They erroneously believe that they can intimidate us with the NCB,” Minister Regupathy declared.
