Oppn unity vital to oust Modi, says Stalin

In a rallying call for opposition unity, DMK president and Chief Minister MK Stalin emphasized the necessity of a consolidated front to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and dismantle what he termed the “fascist” rule of the BJP in India.
Speaking at the INDIA bloc’s rally, Stalin, whose message was delivered by DMK leader Tiruchi Siva, highlighted the alleged tactics employed by the ruling BJP, including toppling democratically elected governments and leveraging investigating agencies such as the CBI, Income Tax department, and Enforcement Directorate to intimidate opponents.
Stalin condemned what he described as a climate of fear, where individuals who resist BJP pressure face arrest and imprisonment, while those who align with the ruling party are granted leniency, with cases against them often withdrawn. He likened this situation to an “undeclared emergency” in India, warning of the erosion of democratic and constitutional values under Modi’s leadership.
The DMK leader urged leaders within the INDIA bloc to stand firm in their protests, emphasizing the stakes involved in the upcoming elections. He cautioned that a return to power for Modi would further imperil India’s democratic fabric.
Stalin stressed the importance of opposition unity, noting that alliances have been formed smoothly in many states and expressing confidence that pending discussions would be concluded swiftly to kickstart the campaign against the BJP. He asserted that only through the collective voice of the people could the BJP’s “fascist rule” be halted.
