Rainwater seepage affects Kalaignar library in Madurai

Recent rains in Madurai have caused rainwater to seep into certain floors of the Kalaignar Centenary Library, affecting the lower levels of the building. The impacted areas include the art gallery and a dedicated section for visually impaired individuals.

The seepage has been traced to a broken rainwater pipe that leads outside the building. This infrastructure failure allowed rainwater to infiltrate the lower floors, disrupting the library’s operations in these sections.

In response to the incident, immediate efforts have been initiated to drain the accumulated rainwater from the affected areas. Library staff and maintenance teams are working diligently to restore normalcy and ensure that the art gallery and the section for visually impaired individuals are returned to their original condition.

The Kalaignar Centenary Library, a significant cultural and educational institution in Madurai, is taking all necessary steps to address the issue promptly and prevent any further damage. Measures to repair the broken rainwater pipe and enhance the building’s water drainage system are also being planned to avoid future occurrences of such problems.

The library management has assured the public that they are committed to maintaining the integrity and functionality of the facility, ensuring it continues to serve as a valuable resource for the community.
