Schools to reopen with special bus services


As the long summer vacations come to an end, schools across Tamil Nadu are set to reopen on Monday, June 10th. To facilitate the return of students and residents who traveled to their native places during the break, the Tamil Nadu state government has announced the operation of special buses over the upcoming weekend.

From Friday, June 7th, to Sunday, June 9th, the state’s transport department will run additional buses to various key destinations. Specifically, between 535 to 570 extra buses will be operated from Kilambakkam in south Chennai to locations such as Tiruvannamalai, Trichy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Kovai, Salem, Erode, and Tirupur.

Additionally, from Koyambedu in Chennai, 160 extra buses will head to places including Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru. In reverse, 200 additional buses will run from Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Erode, and Tiruppur to various parts of Tamil Nadu. For those traveling specifically to Thiruvannamalai, 45 extra buses will be operated from Koyambedu.

The school education department has highlighted the importance of ensuring students can return to school on time. To this end, 705 additional buses will be available to transport passengers to Chennai on Sunday, June 9th. The transport department has made arrangements to operate more buses if needed, ensuring a smooth transition back to school for students.
