Traffic diversions near Strahans Road due to CMRL works


The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced significant traffic diversions in Puliathope starting from Saturday, June 15, until Monday, June 17, to facilitate Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) construction work on Strahans Road. During this period, the entire stretch of Strahans Road will be temporarily closed in both directions, necessitating alternative routes for motorists.

Temporary Route Changes
Motorists will be redirected to New Ferrance Road, which runs parallel to Strahans Road, and Chellappa Street to reach their destinations. The GCTP has also advised local residents to use a network of interior roads, including New Ferrance Road, Chellappa Street, Avadhanapappaiya Road, Subba Street, Rangiah Street, Astbujam Road, Vadamalai Street, Thana Street, Mooku Street, and Manickam Street.

Alternate Routes for Heavy Vehicles
For commercial vehicles and heavy traffic, the GCTP has outlined specific alternate routes:

Vehicles from Central/Choolai to Perambur/Madhavaram: Heavy vehicles should take Raja Muthaiya Salai, Choolai Roundana, Basin-Elephant Gate Road, Basin Power Road, B.B. Top, Erukkanchery High Road, Vysarpadi New Bridge, GNT Road, Moolakadai, and then proceed to their destinations.

Vehicles from Doveton to Madhavaram: These vehicles are advised to use Hunters Road, Choolai High Road, Basin Power Road, B.B. Top, Erukkanchery High Road, Vysarpadi New Bridge, GNT Road, Moolakadai, and then reach their destinations.

Alternate Routes for MTC Buses and Other Vehicles
For MTC buses and other vehicles, the following diversions are in place:

Ayanavaram to Mint: Vehicles should take Otteri Bridge, Cooks Road, Mettupalayam Junction, Stephenson Road, Dr. Ambedkar College Road, Pulianthope High Road, Gandhi Nagar Roundana, Basin Power Road, B.B. Top, and then continue to their destinations.
