President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdep Dhankar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge, and other leaders read the Preamble to mark 75 years of the formation of India’s Constitution on Tuesday.
The Preamble to the Indian Constitution is the introductory statement that explains its philosophy and objectives. It is also known as the basic structure of the Indian Constitution.
President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday inaugurated the 75th-anniversary celebrations of the adoption of the Constitution of India as “Samvidhan Diwas” at old Parliament building, officially known as Samvidhan Sadan. On this occasion, she released a commemorative coin and postage stamp dedicated to the milestone.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday invoked Dr BR Ambedkar to say that “our independence will be put into jeopardy” a second time if parties placed creed above country. Addressing an event to kick-start yearlong celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, he also cautioned that disturbance as a strategy threatened democratic institutions.
It is time to restore the “sanctity of our democratic temples through constructive dialogue, debate and meaningful discussion to serve our people effectively”, Dhankhar said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the people of India on Tuesday on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution which is marked as ‘Constitution Day’ .
Taking on X, PM Modi posted, “Happy Constitution Day to all countrymen on the auspicious occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution. #75YearsOfConstitution”
Home Minster Amit Shah also extended a greeting of ‘Constitution Day’, he affirmed that the Constitution is a ‘mantra of national unity and integrity by ensuring justice and equal rights.’
The Congress on Tuesday urged citizens to protect the ethos of the Constitution and said the struggle to defend India’s inherent philosophy must be reinvigorated and reignited in the 75th year of its adoption.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the people of India should come together to protect each and every thought expressed in the Constitution.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said the Constitution is a powerful tool to protect the poorest and weakest sections of society, and the stronger it is, the stronger the country will be.
