In light of heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has directed officials to ensure relief camps are prepared and ready to handle any emergency. According to the Chennai Meteorological Centre, the low-pressure system over the central parts of the South Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression. It is expected to move in a north-northwest direction over the next two days and could develop into a cyclone.
As a result, districts like Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, and Karaikal are forecast to experience extremely heavy rainfall today. Additionally, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Villupuram, and other districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.
