SCM Garments, part of the leading textile chain Chennai Silks Group, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Guidance Bureau and Investment Promotion Agency of Tamil Nadu to set up a garment manufacturing facility in Tiruvarur district with an investment of Rs 50 crore.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Industries Minister T.R.B. Raaja at the State Secretariat. The investment will generate employment for 2,500 people, an official release said.
The release noted that Tamil Nadu is the second-largest economy in India and a leading state in various sectors, including manufacturing and exports. As per the 2024–25 Economic Survey, the state has performed exceptionally well in attracting investments and creating numerous jobs, especially for women.
The government has been taking several initiatives to create more employment opportunities for youth and to achieve the target of making Tamil Nadu a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030 through increased investments.
In line with these initiatives, SCM Garments has signed the MoU with the Tamil Nadu government in the presence of Stalin, committing an investment of Rs 50 crore, the release added.
