- Justice Karnan to hear PIL filed by Karnan against SC Judges
- Arvind Kejriwal ready to prove election symbols too can be tampered
New Delhi, May 10:
It has been a happening week on the news front, what with the bizarre happenings involving Justice Karnan, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal being caught in a bribe scandal and he hitting back with claims of EVMs can be tampered, and the NDA government all set to complete 3 years in office at the Centre. And, in the event, we in the media have had our hands full focusing our unremitting energies on, well, Arnab Goswami and his newly launched television channel.
Be that as it may, we at Crank’s News are, however, staying on the ball to bring you all the developments involving the NDA government, Karnan and Kejriwal.
We start off with 3 years celebration of Modi dispensation:
Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu today said that the three years of Modi government have been longer than the three years of any other government’s in the annals of Independent India.
Speaking at the meet-the-press programme in Gauhati, Venkaiah Naidu hit out at the media for trying to trivialise the NDA government’s three years in office. “There have been literally hundreds of days. Hundreds of hundreds perhaps. The attempts to try and minimise the enormous number of days we’ve seen so far is just shameful and wrong,” he said.
“Media personnel should introspect as to why they are trying to say as equal the number of days in the three years under Shri Narendra Modiji and the number of days in the three years of any other government.”
Venkaiah, on the occasion, also played down his propensity to come up with names and acronyms, but however, said ‘Naidu‘ perhaps stands for Naming and Acrnoyming Incessantly for Daily Use.
Elsewhere, our legal correspondent from Kolkata reports that Justice Karnan, whose whereabouts at the moment of writing is not known, was all set to hear a PIL alleging partiality by the Supreme Court Judges.
According to sources, the Justice Karnan of the Calcutta High Court will hear the PIL filed by none other than Karnan himself accusing a seven Judge bench of the Supreme Court — comprising the CJI JS Khehar and Justices Dipak Misra, J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur, P C Ghose and Kurian Joseph — of bias and partiality.
The seven Judge Bench, Karnan alleged in his PIL, consistently gave verdicts in favour of, well, the seven Judge Bench in the case against Karnan. Karnan wanted the Kolkata High Court to intervene and pass orders in favour of Karnan.
Justice Karnan, whose whereabouts are not known, was however expected to hear the case from wherever he was and stay the functioning of the entire Supreme Court. Karnan also issued notices to the Supreme Court that nobody other than himself has the powers to order his arrest.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court today ordered the media to not carry the news of their earlier order of not to carry the statements of Justice Karnan.
Whether a gag on an existing gag order is constitutionally valid or not is something that remains to be seen. But, as we have seen in this Karnan case, any kind of eventuality is impossible to rule out.
Going on to a person who can give a complex to Justice Karnan in terms of bizarre behaviour, Arvind Kejriwal, the beleaguered chief of the Aam Admi Party, today, during a special sitting of the UN General Council, sought to prove that election symbols of political parties can also be tampered.
He said his party’s symbol, ‘Broom’ could be easily switched to ‘Bloom’ (symbolising BJP’s Lotus) with a minor press of a button on most keypads.
Kejriwal and his colleagues (whoever is now remaining in the party) had yesterday, on the floor of the Delhi Assembly, sought to prove that the EVMs could be tampered with by vested interests.
Meanwhile, an RTI application has been filed with the Delhi government as to how and where from Kejriwal sourced the said EVM.
Kapil Mishra, a former colleague of Kejriwal but one who has now fallen out with him, claimed that he was a personal witness to Kejriwal placing the order for the EVM on Aliexpress. “It is a Chinese made toy,” Mishra alleged and provided, by way of proof, the URL to the Aliexpress site.
