Chennai: In a development which could bring cheer to DMK workers, party president M Karunanidhi, who is being treated at Kauvery Hospital in the city for the past one week, is likely to be discharged tomorrow.
Sources said the decision has been taken following good improvement in his health condition. “Further treatment will be continued in his Gopalapuram residence,” they added.
Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who visited Karunanidhi at the hospital today, told the media: “He is a fighter from birth and has immense willpower. His condition is improving.”
He further said that he inquired DMK working president M K Stalin and party MP Kanimozhi about Karunanidhi’s health. “They said that he is recovering well. I pray for his speedy recovery,” he added.
Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was also set to visit Karunanidhi at the hospital today. Actor Sivakarthikeyan also visited the hospital and met Stalin and Kanimozhi and inquired about the DMK patriarch’s health.
Stalin on Wednesday said he was shocked to learn about the reported death of 21 party cadres in shock and grief following the hospitalisation of Karunanidhi.
In a statement, Stalin urged the party members not to resort to activities that will lead to their death.
Karunanidhi’s son expressed his condolences to the families of the dead DMK members.
