‘Kalaignar was a five-time Chief Minister and all five times he guided the government and his party in a dutiful manner. Even though I’m in America, my thoughts are with his family and memories are filled with his images,’ Vijayakant said before breaking off into tears and asking the person recording the video to stop filming.
Earlier yesterday, Vijayakant issued a statement through his party demanding Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam to allocate a place for the Karunanidhi’s final resting place near Anna Samadhi.
In the statement, Vijayakant said, ‘Karunanidhi was in public life for 80 years and has been a five-time Chief Minister. He has all the requisites to be classified as a great leader of the DMK party and is considered as a senior politician in India. So, I request Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam to accept my requests and allow a memorial to be erected for Karunanidhi at the Marina Beach.’
