Chennai: “We welcome actor Vijay’s intentions to enter politics,” said Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan.
Addressing mediapersons at Chennai airport this morning, Kamal Haasan, said, “There is nothing wrong in Vijay expressing his desire to enter politics.”
A couple of days ago, speaking the audio launch of his latest film Sarkar, Vijay said if he becomes chief minister, he would weed out corruption from society. Several State ministers and political leaders expressed their ire at the actor’s remarks.
Asked about fuel price hike, Kamal Haasan, said, “It is unfair. To make a steep hike and reduce only a small amount is a wrong act.”
Expressing his happiness at taking part at grama sabha meeting in Uthiramerur recently, the actor-politician said, “Over 7,000 people took part in the meeting, I should thank Kanchipuram Collector Ponnaiah who made all arrangements for the meeting.”
Stating that permanent closure of Sterlite factory was the only solution, Kamal Haasan, said, “Makkal Needhi Maiam will submit a petition to the central team of National Green Tribunal expressing the ill-effects of Sterlite in Thoothukudi.”
