Chennai: DMK president M K Stalin today said Tamilnadu needs more rationalist leaders.
Stalin, along with his family members, watched filmmaker Mari Selvaraj’s Pariyerum Perumal BA BL at a preview theatre in Kodambakkam Friday.
In his Twitter message today, the DMK leader said,’Watched Pariyerum Perumal. The movie figuratively proposes that the Tamil society needs a lot of rational leaders like Ambedkar, Periyar, Anna and Kalaignar.’
Congratulating producer Pa Ranjith and director Mari Selvaraj for making the film, Stalin said,”he movie shows some ground realities of how casteism is still existing in the State.”
Pariyerum Perumal BA BL, starring Kathir, Anandhi and Yogi Babu, deals with the struggles of a youth from an oppressed class of society who aspires to become an advocate.
The lead character, Pariyan, gets into trouble caused by his classmates who consider themselves to be aristocratic in the social construct. The movie ends with a strong take on communalism and sends a message to spread humanity and equality.
Political leaders, including VCK’s Thol Thirumavalavan, NTK’s Seeman, CPI(M)’s G Ramakrishnan and Mahendran, and TVK’s Velmurugan, watched the movie last week and praised the makers for taking such a bold attempt and bringing out the realities of society.
