CMRL feeder services receive good response in Chennai

Chennai: As part of providing last-mile connectivity to Metro Rail passengers, CMRL had taken up the initiative of providing feeder services through share auto and share taxi services at select Metro stations on a trial basis for six months from 11 August.

Eight Metro stations were identified for share auto feeder service, including Ashok Nagar and Ekkaduthangal.

The share auto feeder services are running with a flat tariff of Rs 10, covering 3 km radius from the station.

In September, a total of 24,001 passengers have utilised the share auto services. At Ekkaduthangal, 3,137 passengers have opted for share autos and at Ashok Nagar, 783 passengers.

Similarly, at Guindy – 6,499 passengers; Thirumangalam – 3,428; Alandur – 4,380; Little Mount – 3,460; Koyambedu – 1,219; and St Thomas Mount – 1,095 have utilised the facility.
