Chennai: The Idol Wing police, investigating the seizure of ancient idols from the residences of businessman Ranvir Shah and entrepreneur Kiran Rao, have announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 to anyone providing information about the whereabouts and other inputs related to the duo.
The police have said the identity of the person who comes forward with the information will not be revealed.
In the last few weeks, the Idol Wing had recovered 247 idols from Ranvirs house in Saidapet and Kiran’s bungalow in Poes Garden.
However despite the police issuing summons to both of them for questioning, they have not appeared before the department.
The duo, through their lawyers, have conveyed that they will go to court. Officials suspect that the antique pillars, idol and artefacts could have been stolen from temples across Tamilnadu. Ranvir’s lawyer has said the businessman was a collector of ancient items and the idols were procured legally.
