Chennai: Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan did not rule out the possibility of his party aligning with the Congress to face the forthcoming Parliamentary elections.
Speaking to a television channel, Kamal said, “We are at an equidistant from both the DMK and the AIADMK in Tamilnadu.”
On Parliament elections, Kamal said, “We will contest in the State. However, there is a possibility that we may ally with the Congress. There are chances that the tie-up between the DMK and the Congress would break away. We will reach out to people and explain the need for a change.”
On women of all age-groups allowed entry into Sabarimala Ayyappa temple, Kamal said, “It would increase the number of devotees visiting the holy shrine.”
Coming down heavily on the State government for taking attempts to prevent actors from taking part in college functions, Kamal said, “There is no wrong in politics being discussed in college campus. There is an urgent need for political awakening among youngsters. There are reports that the State government has sent a circular to management of various colleges not to invite actor-politicians to their institutions. But the very next day, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami attended one such event.”
