Chennai: The two women who had almost reached the sanctum sanctorum of the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple in Kerala, have agreed to return without worshipping there.
According to latest reports, Kerala DGP Lokanath Behera told mediapersons that considering the protest by the devotees at the temple, the two women – journalist Kavitha of Andhra Pradesh and social activist Rehana Fathima – agreed to return to Pamba.
A tense situation prevailed at the temple complex as the two women neared the sanctum sanctorum atop the 18 sacred steps.
At first the two women refused to be cowed down and return to base, but were later persuaded by the police officials to do so.
